Westgate Travel Club reviews and complaints
misrepresentation of club benefits
daryl miller & william kohn 954.290.0946 We joined Westgate Travel club only to find out that our travel is now costing us more money by using their services. We are apparently in an expensive un-cancellable contract which we never had a chance to read nor were we given a readable contract copy after the fact. When we attempted to cancel cruises we booked...

This is a scam! There are no discounts! The prices for air and cruise is cheaper if you go directly to the airline/cruise line.
Costco is cheaper on every item I compared. What they do is inflate their prices and then give you the so called "discount".
You do have blackout dates which they flat out lie about during their presentation.
You do not get to use all of your travel credits on whatever you want. This is just a scam. Their website doesn't work half the time.
They took 2 months just to figure out a login/password.
Worst part is that the discounts are a lie. Again... Compare your search on costco for proof... It speaks for itself.

did not live up to promises
On 12/26/2014 in Westgate LV, Wife and I were "sold" onto a Travel Club for $4000 plus yearly maintenance fee of $199. Promise to give us 2weeks of Westgate resort stay for $500/week. And 2 free such weeks every year.
Promise to get best price of airfare and car and hotel deals instead us searching the internet for the best deal. Promise to match lowest prices.
i tried to book car rental and hotel through the club and every time they are more expensive than Expedia/Priceline.
so what's their value?
their cruise aren't so great either.
So I felt cheated of the $4000 and they would not work with me.
Guys, do not get caught. I will go to BBB to complain.

refuses to cancel policy
The westgate travel club is a scam! They annoy you into attending their seminar while you are on vacation and promise you wonderful things for doing so. Then they trap you there and coerce you into buying this beautiful package they have. Then once your mind clears and you realize that you have been had and contact them within the alotted 3 business day cancellation period they allow then they lie and say you didn't contact them within the three day period and that therefore you cannot cancel your membership. We signed up on august 31, and sent them notarized info on sept 4 (3 business days because there was a federal holiday on one of those days) cancelling and they still refuse to cancel our membership. We want out! Any help in getting out would be appreciated.

Hello, we were also deceived on June 23 on a vacation we had, we wanted to cancel and we called within the 10 days that they give to cancel but they did not give me any results until the third time I called a woman told me that already I couldn't cancel because the 10 days had passed. I would like many people to be informed of what we can do to put an end to these scammers.
Has anyone gotten a refund back?I need help
My wife and I signed up in Gatlinburg, TN. We rescinded according to the state law. We have now been repeatedly asking them to cancel our account since 2015. Every year we are reminded they failed to cancel.
They are now on my credit report and I can't refute the account because they won't cancel it.
Did you have a timeshare or the travel club? We were told we could cancel at any time as well... did you just stop paying on it and did it really hurt your credit bad?
Same here me and my wife bought into the scam July 2015 however they told us we could cancel at any time that's what made it different that a timeshare. That was in the presentation. We also cannot cancel. I've spoke with countless others that have had there credit destroyed by this we need to work together and I feel we can beat this and take this scam down.
I used to own with Westgate Resorts, the trick to getting out of the contract is to sell it to another person. I sold my ownership on EBay at a fair price. I was able to recoup 75% of my investment. Another thing I did when I was an owner with them is to deposit as soon as I paid my maintenance fees and place a request with Interval International. I was able to get into the Miami property and it wasn't as great as it was portrayed. I also watched a movie called "The Queen of Versailles" that is about the Westgate founders. It shows their son telling his employees to "lie" if they had to and close the sale. Well, as some may know, Planet Hollywood on the Vegas strip belonged to Westgate and they had to sell due to lack of funds. People have sued and won their cases. Just do your due diligence and find out all you can before signing on the dotted line. Good luck!
I am from the UK and cannot believe that i fell for this while on holiday in Vegas last year. i was promised that i would have help to book anything i wanted and that it would work out a lot cheaper than booking myself. i have had a nightmare trying to use the different sites - i couldn't even get into passport for 11 months! they make you book the resorts and pay for them before they will help you to book flights, which means i am stuck, i cannot book the resort first and then deal with the price of flights after and i cannot book the flights first and deal with the resort not being available after. How do they expect anyone to use this system? being in the UK i asked on a pillion different occasions for someone to contact me via email to help me, and got nothing in return, until i emailed saying i wanted to cancel, then suddenly a letter appeared saying i did not have the right to cancel - so they were clearly receiving my eamils and choosing to ignore them, so i went back again and again, pointing out that i knew they were receiving them. i didn't get a response until i said that 'emails are used in business' worldwide how can you not use them, is there something that you do not want to put in writing to me for legal reasons' i then get a response, which still was not very helpful. Then i got a call from someone from the cruise and travel section saying that i need to pay an additional £2, 000 to renew my contract with them! This was not said at the time - are you kidding me! These people were from a UK place and had closed down my USA (.com) account and opened it in UK (.co.uk) without my knowledge or my permission. i can't get the USA to set it back up as the keep telling me that it 'must' always of been UK - i really enjoy being called a liar! Absolutely disgusted with their behaviour and can't believe that no one will help me and then ask for even more money! PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OFF THEM, THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU TO GET ANYTHING OUT OF IT! AND WHEN YOU TRY YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY OVER THE ODDS!
One other thing - once you're in, just accept your fate and use it as much as you can to made it financially worthwhile. In order to beat them at their game and get your money back, you would spend more in legal fees than you spent buying into the "travel club", so fighting it legally is just useless from a financial point of view. I spoke with a lawyer about it and they estimated it would cost me a minimum of 10k to win and that it could easily be double that. My head is bowed in shame that I let them talk me into this. I just couldn't believe that a company would be as dishonest about their product as the Westgate group has proven to be.
What we were promised would have been great for us, but the reality of what we are able to get is nothing like what was offered. You are effectively getting access to Interval International to rent the weeks they cannot get anyone to take in places where you probably have no desire to go. They only make the smallest and least attractive places available to you, i.e. studio units in the oldest buildings the resort owns. You will NEVER get the opportunity to get a place at the Westgate Miami Beach resort, for example, where we were told we would be able to use four consecutive weeks in the winter with no problems as part of the sales pitch. Basically, if you don't mind going to Las Vegas or Orlando, Florida every year and don't mind booking it at the last minute and don't mind staying in the oldest, smallest unit available and don't mind changing units if you are even able to book multiple weeks, then this will work for you just fine. Otherwise, it's a classic bait and switch undertaking. We'll eventually get our money's worth out of it (if we live long enough), but not without a lot of irritation & frustration. I'm hoping I can tell people not to do it when I next stay there!
I am also trying to cancel this scam. They never gave me a copy of the contract or advised me of my right to cancel. When i called them which was before the three days right to cancel, they told me Nevada has no cooling off period. I purchasd the vacation club in Las Vegas. Finally they emailed a copy of the contract about two weeks after the first request. The way i interpret the law, i have three days after signing or receipt of the contract, whichever comes last. So i sent them a letter telling them to cancel. I got a letter back saying it was too late. I gve contacted every legal organization possible to report this scam and i have a dispute with bill me later. At this time, i feel i have lost 4000.00 since there is no way i can purchase any of their vacations. The $4000.00 is owed to bill me later and i do not want my credit destroyed. These people are nothing more than high pressure scam artists. Can anyone help?
Don't Buy This Please!!!!
My husband and I purchased a travel club membership through this company in Orlando. We have had a timeshare for 14 years and love it. But this was suppose to be different. You are buying a membership that supposedly gets you 50% off of hotels, cruises, tours and airfare. The day after we purchased I called their customer service number to see if the prices were what they said and I was told that I couldn't get prices until I received my password in 6 weeks. I should have known right then! When I got my password and looked up prices, they were the same price and Expedia and Priceline to the Penny and sometimes cost more. My heart sank. We did not buy this for the timeshare and the man that gave the presentation sat with us and told us that the money savings was with discount on hotels and airfare. Always listen to your gut. We contacted BBB and Florida Attorney General and a lawyer to try and get out of this. It has been almost 6 months we are not paying Westgate, but we have a conscience and feel like we should pay Bill Me Later since they have already payed half of the purchase price. So basically we are paying $1700.00 for nothing. We had an excellent credit score before this in the 800's and now I am so mad that 25 years of paying your bills ontime can be undone by one stupid company. Please learn from us! DO NOT BUY and if you have, go get your car keys and jump in your car and cancel this. It would help me a little bit to know that our dumb mistake helped someone. God Bless!

same thing happened to us also. called to book a cruise and it was more than if I booked it myself! We are so angry
Same thing happened to me and my wife. We need to all get together and file a complaint try and appeal this. There are countless others that are in same boat so getting more people would not be hard at all.
Wow! I did not know this?
This sounds like our situation to a T. Westgate wont let us cancel, we feel that we owe Bill Me Later. There is high pressure sales and when we asked about the three day grace period (we were on vacation) we were told by Karroll Jamerson at Westgate Smoky Mountian, "if you don't want us we don't want you". I took him for his word but obviously that was a mistake. I was upfront about not wanting this program to save Westgate and Bill Me Later from using thier resources to no avail. I agree with "listen to you gut", put your money somewhere else and Do Not Buy! Feeling Helpless.
scam
My wife and I took a timeshare preview for some free tickets and once we declined, we were given our tickets about 3 timeshare agents tied to get us to buy. Needless to say, once we received our tickets, we were approached by a agent stating she was with westgate travel club. She advised for 1 hour power point preview, she would give us dinner for 2 and 2 movie passes. I asked her was this a timeshare presentation and she stated no. Once we met our agent, she was very nice and tried to get to know us. We told her that we had several bad experiences with timeshare previews and we were told this was only a slideshow for 1 hour. After the agent kept us at "breakfast" for a hour, the show began. The salesman told us at the beginning of the slide show, this is a simple presentation and once you say no, you are done. You get your free prize and go on to your vacation. Not true! This is nothing more that an attempt to get you to join a travel club for over $8, 000.
I had to get rude with the agent and told them all I wanted were our tickets.
Folks, be aware of all this "free" stuff. Your 90 minutes always turn into 3 hours.

Do yourself and favor and run like forrest gump from anything you are ever offered from westgate anywhere but especially in las vegas. They are higly deceptive and outright liars. They seem to have no shame, and also appear to be in dire financial straits from all the public info available with the fire sale of assets currentl being offered through auction. Beware... westgate cruise and travel has me craving a getaway! ðŸŒâœ¨ Where's your dream destination with them?
These sales people will lie and leave out information that would keep a client from buying if they knew. They have to sell their worthless crap under false pretenses. So feel free to waste their time. They don't deserve to be respected, it's a bunch of con men. At the end of the presentation tell them you just filed for bankruptcy and cannot buy anything, that will get you out quickly with your gifts
My friend used to sell timeshares and vacation clubs in Vegas, and he laughed when he saw complaints like these from people who got ripped off by different companies. And when I questioned his indifference towards these victims, his reply was they deserved it. Everyday, he said, mooches go to timeshares and vacation clubs presentations for cheesy show tickets and wasted the salespersons' time and complained and complained for having duped into a several hours presentation when it was supposed to be 90 minutes long. He went on to say that these so-called victims wanted something for nothing; they deserved to be ripped off. So, here we go, learn your lesson and move on. Don't ever go to any more presentation and waste other people's time including yours for some trinkets
I bet you’re the crook sales rep claiming it’s your friend.
We have been travel club members for a year and a half and it is the biggest rip off and scam! We were told so many things in our presentation that we're all lies. We spent over $6000 for this crap and still have to pay full price elsewhere to vacation. Nothing at any west gate resort within traveling distance for us ever has an opening. Doesn't matter when we try to book or how far in advance as they are booked no matter what. They also change their policies quite a bit from what they tell you at the presentation. Stay far away from westgate! Feel free to email me if you want specifics. I have a lot! Stephanie@shadixphotography.com
Yeah Mike1952, im sure you have been with Westgate for 3 years. As a salesman, get real you know to many details and I call ### on you. My parents suffered at the hands of you scamming dogs. I got them out so if they are so wonderful, why did they let my folks out after we pointed out the lies they were told.
Please how do I get out of it?
This is my third year with westgate and I want to make it a goal to visit as many of them as I can. We started with buying into a Flamingo bay every other year for $12, 500. We now have upgraded to Las Vegas casino villa where we can now exchange are Vegas week for 2 other week at any other westgate. Yes I first felt I was sucker in when I bought life time cruise and travel and now pay $29 annual fee instead of $249. Our best vacation was in Smoky mountain resort 2nd week of Oct. 3rd week might have been a little better for the fall colors. We had used the week from Flamingo bay about March to book ahead of time. So far we have been to westgate lake and palace in Florida, Smoky Mountain, Flamingo Bay and Vegas Casino. There are many perks the owners to get like Vegas Casino was hotel like so we had free continental breakfast, free wine and beer at 5pm. other Westgate places they have a welcome dinner smoky mountain had a free lunch and breakfast. I do not buy the travel ins but our 2 week car rental in vegas was only $13 per day. If I were to offer any advise learn to know what the time share are trying to be resold for prior them saying this is worth $170K smoky muontain, $250k villa in vegas. Air fare quotes have been valid and no extra fees.
I have been on the phone for 2 days trying to book a vacation there telling me you have to book this year for next year really how do you know in a year where you want to go or you want to do im so mad right know i have tryed for a year to book vacation and every time i call they can get me a room but yet you look on line and can book a week stay any where with them for 100 dollars and i have time share with them i wish i would of never got the time share with them it was me trowing my money away so mad right know
Whenever anyone is ready to file a class action suit, contact me. My case is unresolved and we'll documented I'm ready to go. I paid $2500 for a lifetime membership and promised a lot of stuff. They took the money and has not delivered on one request for services. Let's go Westgate. I'll show you damages.
I’m ready to join you
I joined West Gate travel club last year. I tried to book the free week over two months ago, and they keep telling me to call back. It is now April and I plan to go on vacation in June. Today was the last straw, I call the Federal Trade and started a complaint on them. It is a big ponzi scheme. They took the complaint and told me they would have to get more complaints on this company. They offer products and services to get you to buy in the company then you can't book the vacation. I would like my money back and they will not have any problem from me. If every one will please call,

I too was scammed by Westgate travel club. They promised things that are not true! I’m still trying to get my money back. Purchased on Feb .26 2023,
Tried to cancel after a couple of weeks as they told me I have to wait that long to get a package confirming my membership. Never received package, Altho got emailed to say I gave a membership #.
Tried to find a vacation that they promised I would get on their “cheap†rate….. could not find any.
Even their pelt manager did not know how to navigate their system… for some who has worked there for 14+ years, she’s never taken any of the vacations either! I wonder why?
It’s a scam. Do not fall for it!
We are sorry to hear that you want to cancel your Travel Club Membership . Unfortunately, your membership cannot be canceled at this time. As stated in the cancelation policy in your contract, you had 3 business days from the date of purchase to request a cancelation of your Travel Club Membership. We have attached a copy of your contract to this email for your reference. Below you will also see the cancelation policy stated in your agreement.
MEMBERS' RIGHT TO CANCEL You may cancel this agreement without any penalty or obligation within three (3) business days after the date you sign this agreement. If you decide to cancel this agreement, you must notify Sponsor in writing of your intent to cancel. Your notice of cancellation is effective upon the date sent and must be sent to Westgate Travel Club, Attn: Cancellations, at 2801 Old Winter. Garden Road Ocoee FL, 34761.
Thank you for responding back to me.
I want to start by saying when we signed the agreement we weren’t told that we had 3 days and I’m so thankful that we recorded the whole conversation and questions we asked. From the recording we were advised that we couldn’t do anything until when we received a welcome email which came on the 4th day after we signed the agreement which actually throws out your 3days cancellation.
While I would love to resolve without involving the bank or the law, I would sincerely appreciate that you reconsider.
Like I said initially, you all look at people differently therefore quoting different prices.
I’m sorry for sending several messages. Did I mention that I called several times last week Wednesday and was directed to an extension to leave a message and never heard back and this was 2days literally after signing and didn’t even know at the time that you had 3 business days to cancel, after speaking to a family friend who told us how much they paid 2days after we signed the contract was what prompted me to call and cancel, which was over $2000 less than what we pain for the same package?
I mention law in my previous mail but I actually meant legal action.
So I’ve attached the response I received from them, and also the email I sent threatening them.
We also bought into this scam April 2014. We feel like we were brainwashed. We were lied to & tricked & deceived. I pray that God will make a way somehow for this company to have to pay for what they are doing. We would also like to be part of a class action lawsuit.
