Sotramont reviews and complaints

#1 My kitchen Fan since I moved in doesn't work and every time I boil water or cook my cabinets, and back splash gets wet and the condo is full of smoke if I happen to Fry. Can not use my self cleaning oven to clean my oven cause the smoke detector will go on. Sent e-mails to Sotramont Management, President, Agent who sold my condo, and Ges-Mar Property Management and not one replied. This is going on since February my Move-in. Fan should be replaced to collect the steam and the smoke, must be very strong.

#2 There was a Robbery on April 20, 2022 in the Main Locker Room. My Locker Cage was broken into and I am holding Sotramont responsible for the reason that the Main Door to the Locker Cages did not have a Handle with a Lock - it was hollow (the hole was there for the lock to be placed). Finally they put a lock to the door and gave all owners keys after the Robbery was done. Received an e-mail from Des-Mar Property Management that regarding the repair of the locker cage, they will take care of it, but when it comes to the loss of my objects Sotramont will not assume responsibility. (Still not repaired as promised) I am trying to get reimbursed for the items stolen and I was told to claim it to my insurance. With my insurance I have a $500 deductable, plus my insurance will go up $500. Therefore I want Sotramont to reimburse me for what was stolen (See below) :

I filed a police report and was told it is the problem of Sotramont cause the lock should have been installed on the main door before we co-owners started storing our belongings in our Locker Cages. Please advise me of what to do next. Thank You So Much!

We recently purchased a property at Bois Franc, Saint Laurent, Montreal. the builders Sotramont seemed to be a good builder with many projects and had won some awards in the past so we felt assured that we would get a professional service and a quality home.

Unfortunately, we found a couple of issues other than the usual little problems with a new home. One is a serious safety issue that concerns us (to be confirmed by inspectors) and another is based on a verbal agreement from the project manager at the time of inspection (to get me to sign) which he later withdrew due to higher than anticipated costs (costs which were incurred due to his verbal instructions and agreement).

I was still under the impression that a professional company will put these things right... but we are now 3 weeks later and they won't respond to calls or emails.

We are very disappointed and I am sure we are not the first to experience problems with Sotramont. They told us anything to get a signature and then washed their hands of responsibility when we found problems that will incur a cost to them even though these costs were incurred based on their verbal instructions. We are now forced to pursue the matter via local government and legal means rather than the contractors taking responsibility.

Our next hope is to see if Le Garantie Qualite Habitation actually has any meaning to help resolve these issues.
